Curriculum

Islamic Studies

The Islamic Studies curriculum at The Ark Institute is based on a junior e-hawza program for Islamic Studies with an emphasis on building a strong foundation in Aqaid (Core Beliefs), Akhlaq (Etiquette), and a deeper understanding of related concepts in the Holy Qur’an.

The syllabus is adopted from ‘Islamic Syllabus’ (http://www.islamicsyllabus.com) and is based on a ‘spiral’ learning system where prior concepts and topics are reinforced and enhanced in a progressive manner throughout the years. The syllabus is organized into three primary content streams:

  • Theology – Fundamentals of Islam
  • Jurisprudence – The Practical Laws of Islam
  • Social Islam – The social norms and rules in Islam

The content is further curated and enhanced through supplemental resources for additional clarity on any given subject. Our program is also designed as an aptitude based system in order to provide the right level of support for each child to progress based on their unique learning style.

More information about the syllabus can be found at http://www.islamicsyllabus.com.

Qur’an

The Qur’an curriculum is based on the QFatima program. You can find more information on the syllabus at http://qfatima.com/qschool/.

Adult Classes

Adult classes will be held through an informal discussion and Q&A session with Sheikh Mujtaba Khaliq during the Qur’an period. Parents are highly encouraged to attend and take advantage of this opportunity to engage with an Alim every Sunday.

Course Details

The course details section offers a glimpse into the topics that will be covered, along with target ages ranges for each level. Since this is an aptitude based learning environment, each child will be placed according to his/her level of proficiency in either Qur’an or Islamic studies.
